Summer! (Fingers Crossed)

Hi – many apologies for my LONG silence.  Those who know me will tell you I've been pretty grumpy this past few months but all is gonna change – NOW!  The sun is shining and it might last more than a day – you never know.

Here's what's happening in the studio and around the Beaver Pond this summer.

Studio Clean Out Sale

A first ever – and, depending on its success, possibly the last!

Canada Day – Thursday July 1st  - 9.00am – 5.00pm

I have a load of stuff from past years, overruns of out of print images, postcards, cards  (including Christmas Cards) and so on.  I also have a bunch of odds and ends frames, framed images which have hung around too long, some old originals which I'm tired of looking at and just things which I'd be happy to get rid of.  All of this will be cleared out on Canada Day at bargain prices.

Harmony Arts Festival – Ambleside Beach, West Vancouver

http://www.harmonyarts.ca/

Friday July 30th  4.00pm – 8.00pm
Saturday July 31st, Sunday August 1st, & Monday August 2nd, 10.00am – 8.00pm

Friday August 6th 4.00pm – 8.00pm
Saturday August 7th & Sunday August 8th 10.00am – 8.00pm

Ladner Village Market

http://www.ladnervillagemarket.com/

August 22nd and September 12th 10.00am – 4pm

Other News

I will be taking part again this year in the Circle Craft Christmas Market.  However, because the sails at Canada Place are being replaced during that time, this year's show will take place one week later than it's normal time. This years show will take place at the NEW CONVENTION CENTRE – November 17th -21st.  I will post more information nearer to the date

I will also be taking part in the Dunbar Craft Fair on November 27th

Also – just a heads up – there may be some slight changes in the look of my calendar this year since it is getting so very expensive to produce as is.  I am trying my best to find a way to keep its integrity whilst maintaining the current price point.  More on this soon.

Come by the studio this summer if you get the chance we are open 7 days a week.  It'd be good to see you!

We probably should add a weblinks page with some of Hilary's favourite webspots - but in the meantime, here's a link she asked me to post - in her words:

"This is an  excellent site which has been created by the Granville Island community and needs to be seen."

Beaver Pond

Welcome to Beaver Pond Creative Productions, featuring the line of work by Vancouver artist Hilary Morris. Since she started painting commercially in April 1988, Hilary's works have been purchased and hung all over the world.  In addition to her interpretations of the sites of Vancouver and BC, Hilary has painted numerous commissions: homes, businesses, boats, and many other subjects.

She has been commissioned to produce a commemorative print for the NBA draft, held in Vancouver and also later for the NHL Draft.  She has had many solo and group exhibitions and has her work on permanent display at her Studio / Gallery on Granville Island.  Her work will be seen all over the city in 2009 marking the celebration of Granville Island's 30th Anniversary.

Hilary's original paintings are produced in opaque watercolour (Gouache) and India Ink and her reproductions capture, in the same detail and vibrancy, the colours of Vancouver and the West Coast.
