Well - as we head into yet another week of sweltering heat, there will be no sympathy for those who complain about the rain when it finally comes in the next few months, I'm sure. For me, I am happy when it rains - it must be the British thing, I guess - though I have to admit, this has been a gorgeous Summer in the City. After the thunderstorms and fireworks on Saturday night, I am feeling a little inspired to tackle another painting with fireworks - but have always struggled to capture the fleeting movement of the lightbursts. Fireworks seem intrinsically linked with Summer in Vancouver now, so I think I owe it to my portfolio to have another go, so watch out for that at some stage. This week I am doing my final preparations for the Harmony Arts Festival Show starting on Friday July 31st at 4.00pm at Ambleside, West Vancouver. I am finishing a few smaller originals for the show and will also have a good selection of my gallery pieces and smaller items there. Unfortunately, the 2010 calendar will not be ready for this show, but hopefully by the end of August - I have just run out of time to get it done early this year. I promise it'll be worth the wait! What I'm listening to this week: Elbow - "Cast of Thousands", "Leaders of the Free World" , Cafe del Mar Volume 14, Sarah Vaughan Sings Broadway. |

Banners are now up all around Granville Island featuring my painting. I have some of the posters in my studio so if you'd like one do drop by. |

..... isn't all it's cracked up to be, I tell you. Having just come back from a great week away from the Studio, I find myself back here struggling to focus on the many things I have to do. The whole point of taking a break was to help me "regain my creative focus" - to relax, chillout, refuel... you know. Well now I'm just grumpy sitting here as everyone else is playing in the sun! However, having said that I went out for along bike ride last night looking at our beautiful city and I was inspired by the colours, the people and the playing - so all is not lost ... just as I say, working for a living is not all it's cracked up to be.... even here is spectacular Vancouver! Don't forget.... Harmony Arts Fair coming up July 31st - August 3rd and August 7th - 9th at Ambleside Park, West Vancouver. For More info www.harmonyarts.ca. See you there In the Studio I'm working on ..... Calendar Pictures (Still!), a design for a new tattoo (a minor distraction!) Commissions. I'm listening to ..... Starsailor "All the Plans", Thievery Corporation "The Last Man in Babylon", Paolo Nutini "Sunny Side Up" Old Stevie Wonder Tracks (Thanks Pete!) |
